Sunderland and Watford are reportedly interested in Javier Manquillo from Atletico Madrid.

The right-back is expected to leave the Spanish side before the end of the current transfer window, and the club are currently looking for a destination which pleases all parties. He spent the last year on loan at Olympique Marseille, and was previously on a loan deal at Liverpool.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the idea is to let the player go on a permanent transfer this time around, but the price they’re asking is making the departure difficult.

The Black Cats and the Hornets reportedly have the competition of Serie A’s Sassuolo, AS Roma, Napoli and AC Milan for the signing.

Manquillo spent the 2014/15 season on loan at Liverpool, but failed to impress at Anfield, having made only 19 appearances for the Reds. He was supposed to stay a second season, but it didn’t work out.
