Sevilla’s Vicente Iborra was yesterday linked with a move to Sunderland, after Spanish website El Desmarque claimed the Premier League side are interested in signing him.

It was reported Sunderland don’t find signing Yann M’Vila feasible, and could turn their attention towards Iborra instead.

The latest reports in Spain claim Sunderland have already stepped up their efforts to sign the Spanish midfielder.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Sunderland have already submitted an offer to Sevilla for Iborra.

The Premier League side have also contacted the player’s representatives, but it remains to be seen if he can be tempted to sign for Sunderland.

Estadio Deportivo say Iborra had offers from Premier League sides in recent years, but the player has always ignored them.

In a recent interview Iborra explained he is happy at Sevilla, and that the Premier League is not a priority for him.

Sevilla have the advantage of playing in the Champions League next season, and Iborra might be tempted to stay.

We’re not too optimistic about Sunderland’s chances of signing the player. Champions League football, a trophy winning team, and an all year round warm climate is quite attractive.
