Sunderland have reportedly engaged in an interesting scouting mission at the weekend.
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the Black Cats had a representative at the match between FC Porto and Boavista.
For now, there’s no information on who Sunderland were scouting, although that very much sounds like they were keeping an eye on someone for the summer market.
Porto beat Boavista 2-1. The away side opened the scoring with Bruno Lourenço, while Zé Pedro and Taremi found a late comeback for the Dragons.
The local media highlights the performances from Francisco Conceição, Zé Pedro and Pepê, although it doesn’t look like any of the Porto stars would fancy a move to the Championship.
It’s very much possible Sunderland could even be interested in some Boavista players. Midfielder Bruno Lourenço, who was their best on the pitch, was also praised for his performance.
Although clubs like Manchester United keep a scout watching most Portuguese League games, this isn’t the same situation with the Championship side, so we shall keep an eye on the Portuguese media and see if the Black Cats will soon make a move for any fresh target.
