Earlier on today we covered claims from Turkey that Trabzonspor are interested in Sunderland defender Lamine Kone.

Contact was said to have been initiated and there was some confidence a loan deal was possible, with Turkish clubs often trying to get players from England on such basis.

Earlier this summer, Trabzonspor were also said to be keen on a loan for Sunderland’s Papy Djilobodji.

According to claims coming out of France on Tuesday evening, Kone won’t be going to Turkey.

RMC state, according to their own information, that Sunderland and Strasbourg have come to an agreement. This move would also be on the basis of a loan, at least initially, and RMC sound confident the transfer isn’t far from completion.

It’s stated Kone can travel to have a medical with the Ligue 1 club on Wednesday and then complete his move to the club, no further information has been added on cost or a potential buying option.
