FC LNZ Cherkasy have been eyeing a move for Sunderland’s Jewison Bennette.
On February 25th, we covered claims from Ukraine that LNZ Cherkasy are keen on signing the winger. It wasn’t made clear whether they are looking to take him on loan or via a permanent transfer.
Journalist Ihor Burbas brings the latest on the Ukrainian club’s pursuit of the Sunderland player, relayed by Champion.
On February 3rd, the winter window in the UK closed, but the Costa Rica international can still leave for LNZ Cherkasy because the window in Ukraine remains open until March 11th.
Burbas claims the Ukrainian club will pay €500,000 including bonuses to the Black Cats for the 20-year-old. They are also working to sign FC Polissya Zhytomyr’s Béni Makouana on a loan deal.
The journalist states LNZ Cherkasy wanted to acquire the duo’s signature before today’s clash against FC Dynamo Kyiv, but that remains unlikely.
Bennette made 21 appearances for the Championship club since joining them in August 2022. He came off the bench against Preston North End in the EFL Cup last August and that has been his only appearance of this season.
The Sunderland attacker could now relaunch his career at LNZ Cherkasy.
