Sunderland look set to miss out on Torino goalkeeper Daniele Padelli following claims he’s set to remain with the club. Sunderland have been linked with the former Liverpool player this week because he was expected to leave Torino after Joe Hart’s arrival.

TMW have reported on reports via Sky Sports Italia that Padelli will provide back-up to Hart, following the announcement today the Manchester City goalkeeper has signed for Torino on loan for the rest of the season.

Instead, Torino’s young goalkeeper Alfred Gomis has been shipped out on loan to Bologna meaning Padelli will be the club’s second choice keeper.

This will come as a blow to Sunderland who are keen to bring in an experienced goalkeeper due to Vito Mannone recently suffering a fracture to his elbow which will rule him out in the coming months.
