On Tuesday, we covered claims from Italy which stated Sunderland have stepped in to try and sign AS Roma’s Enzo Le Fée in the winter market.
The midfielder has struggled at the Serie A side since joining them from Stade Rennais last summer and clocked in 460 minutes from 10 games this season.
Le Fée’s situation at Roma has caught the attention of several teams, including Real Betis and Sunderland.
That’s according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who states the Black Cats have overtaken the La Liga side in the race for the 24-year-old. The Championship club intend to sign him on a loan deal with an option to buy in January.
Di Marzio adds these are ‘important hours’ for the former Stade Rennais man’s case to be clarified.
Calciomercato.it also cover Sunderland and Real Betis interest in the Frenchman and then provide more updates.
Régis Le Bris had previously managed Le Fée at FC Lorient and wants to reunite with his former player at the Stadium of Light. The pair have had positive contacts and Sunderland are now making advances in their negotiations.
In fact, the report states Le Bris’ side are ‘getting closer’ to closing the deal for the player on loan. They add the operation is in the ‘final stages’ and Sunderland want to wrap up the ‘deal quickly’.
Le Fée is preparing to leave Roma for a new adventure in England… potentially at Sunderland.
