Bought by Sunderland £8m over the summer, Papy Djilobodji continued the tradition of Chelsea making nice little profits off players who barely played for them.

Having already made four appearances for the Premier League side since the start of the season, the 27-year-old has the backing of David Moyes, lining him up next to Lamine Koné.

The player gave a big interview for this month’s edition of So Foot, and as you may have already seen, touched upon his time at Chelsea and the 59 seconds of football he played there.

However, that’s not what’s interesting us this time, as Sunderland fans will be glad to know the player has revealed he is a big fan of yoga.

Not quite using it for the same reasons Ryan Giggs did, the defender explains he took up the stretching activity to calm himself on the pitch.

He explained: “It’s really good. It’s calmed me a bit. I don’t know if you saw my first few games at Nantes, but yeah… I was breaking feet and stuff (including his own). Now, with yoga, it’s going well.

“It’s not just down to that, but it helps. I was told to do some, that it could help me. I listened, did some, and I saw it worked, so great! I do it a few times a week. Three, four times. It’s a lot, it’s like training. Sometimes, it’s really hard!”

Despite this, the player still managed to get himself banned last season while on loan at Werder Bremen for threatening an opposition player by making a throat-slitting gesture.

“These things happen”, he explained. Yeah, sure, Papy.
