French midfielder Yann M’Vila spent the last season on loan at Sunderland from Rubin Kazan. Sunderland have been trying to negotiate a permanent deal to sign him, but his wages were proving to be a stumbling block.

The 26-year-old played a key role to keep Sunderland in the Premier League last season, and interest from the Black Cats to bring him back makes sense.

The Sunderland Echo, recently, reported the Black Cats are confident of signing M’Villa. According to L’Equipe on Saturday, M’Vila has signed a four year contract with Sunderland.

L’Equipe say Sunderland made every effort to retain the services of the Frenchman, and have agreed a deal with Rubin Kazan.

M’Vila could be Sunderland’s first summer signing should he now complete his medical examinations and other formalities quickly.
