Takvim have claimed Fenerbahçe are very close to loaning Sunderland’s Jeremain Lens for another season, with negotiations between the two clubs at a very advanced stage.
Sunderland need a miracle to retain their top flight status for next season following their midweek defeat to Middlesbrough. The Turkish media believe Sunderland are also in a tricky situation financially and Takvim report they can’t afford to have Lens’ on their payroll whilst playing in the Championship.
Takvim say Fenerbahçe are ready to pay a €2m loan fee to Sunderland, and that the Turkish club will cover the player’s wages.
Lens has been Fenerbahçe’s best offensive player this season and he’s one of the main reasons why Fenerbahçe are still in the hunt for the Champions League place, but David Moyes wasn’t keen.
Lens has also been getting attention from other clubs, but the Dutchman looks set to reject these approaches in order to sign for Fenerbahçe.
Throughout the season the Netherlands international has stated he doesn’t want to return to Sunderland, and it seems he may get his wish.
