On April 18th, we covered claims from Italy of Southampton interest in Bartlomiej Dragowski.
The Saints were said to be keen along with Borussia Dortmund and Napoli, and the goalkeeper was edging towards the exit at Fiorentina because he’s lost his place in the team.
Dragowski started this season as Fiorentina’s starting goalkeeper, but got a red card in the first match of the campaign. After suspension he returned to the team, and then picked up a hamstring injury in October. He wasn’t available again until January and since then has spent the majority of his time on the bench for La Viola.
Given his contract expires in June 2024, there’s a decision to be made this summer.
Corriere Fiorentino cover that, and say the player has his ‘suitcases ready’. According to the report, Dragowski has English admirers, and they name Southampton, Bournemouth, Tottenham and West Ham.
Fiorentina are ready to evaluate offers for the 24-year-old in the summer, and a transfer is very much on the cards.
It’s down to Southampton to decide whether they want to push the competition aside.
