It’s not hard to be sceptical about the Andrea Favilli to Wolves rumours, but the Italian media clearly feel there’s something in it.

On Thursday, we carried a couple of claims from Italy that Wolves are keen on the player. Gazzetta dello Sport reported Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are looking to ‘woo’ the Juventus attacker.

In their Friday addition it’s stated, as part of a feature on Juventus exits ‘…while on Andrea Favilli it would be Wolverhampton to invest’

There’s nothing more and it remains to be seen whether this is one of the countless Wolves claims to be made then repeated continually simply because it was once mentioned, or something more.

Favilli had a good start to the season with Ascoli, scoring goals in Serie B and the Coppa Italia but he then suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury and hasn’t played since November.

That would make the €20m transfer fee mentioned yesterday seem very high indeed.

Does Nuno really need another young striker on the edges of the team? Maybe not, and especially not at such a fee.
