Tottenham Hotspur have carried out surveys for Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenković in recent weeks, according to claims from Italy.
The defender’s contract will expire in 2023 and it’s not clear whether he will leave the Serie A side this summer as his future ‘still hangs in the balance’.
That’s according to La Nazione, relayed by Fiorentina.it, who explain there should be more clarity on the 24-year-old’s future in the coming days.
It’s suggested Tottenham are one of three clubs in the mix to sign the centre-back, while the Italian side want to be made aware of his plans.
Fiorentina have asked the Serbia international to give a definitive answer and have set a deadline of August 4th for him to respond. There are three clubs showing interest in the player, Inter Milan, Juventus and an unnamed side.
La Nazione suggest Tottenham are the third team, as they made contact for the Serbian a few weeks ago. The defender, for his part, will be able to play in the Champions League if he were to join one of Spurs, Inter and Juve.
Meanwhile, Fiorentina have the desire to retain Milenković and could even offer a renewal to him. At the moment, there is 50 percent chance he will leave, taking advantage of the ‘gentleman’s agreement’ he made with his club last year.
The outlet end the report by stating: ‘Nikola is really torn in front of the possibility of making a theoretical leap to the top [club]. The bond with Florence is very strong and the second season with Italiano at the helm promises a further leap in quality.’
