Vitesse goalkeeper Eloy Room is trying to force a transfer from the club, according to a suggestion in the Dutch media.

Room has fallen out of favour at the Dutch club, and the 28 year old has been linked with a move to Everton this summer.

Earlier today we covered reports from the Netherlands that Room didn’t turn up for training yesterday due to illness. The player was No.1 with Vitesse last season, but summer arrival Remko Pasveer has been the preferred choice during preseason.

This has led to a suggestion from De Gelderlander that Room is trying to force a transfer, with Everton again mentioned as the potential destination. Ronald Koeman’s side as the only club named as an interested party.

Vitesse have refused to say if they’ve received a transfer request for the goalkeeper, but De Gelderlander say that’s the club long standing policy anyway.

Just over a week ago we reported Room was an option for Everton boss Ronald Koeman if Joel Robles returns to Spain next season. The Vitesse keeper would be brought in as Koeman’s No.3, behind Jordan Pickford and Maarten Stekelenburg.

At the time there was confidence in the Dutch reports, but things quickly went quiet.
