To set the picture, the current slant from Germany on Jadon Sancho is: Manchester United missed the August 10th deadline to agree a €120m deal, the player now won’t be sold this summer, Borussia Dortmund don’t believe his value will drop because he has a contract until 2023, they’re very happy to keep him, and it’s not thought the player will try to force a transfer.
Bild now suggest the Bundesliga club could get even more from a transfer next summer. The German newspaper say Sancho ‘could be gold-plated’ in ‘post-corona times’, which feels optimistic, if only on the post-corona times claim.
Dortmund are in a ‘luxury’ position, due to the ‘secret’ 2023 contract extension, and there’s talk of a ‘record’ transfer, although it’s not made clear which record would be broken.
There’s not a lot coming from Bild, that’s pretty much it. A bullish stance which portrays Dortmund as being in a very strong position, and not worried at all about the failed transfer to Manchester United.
Of course, there’s a chance it could all be part of some protracted game, to pressure the Premier League club into trying to get a deal done this summer. Nevertheless, that’s Bild’s latest stance: Sancho could be worth even more when June 2021 comes around.
