The crisis at Paris Saint Germain is, of course, the big subject in France’s sports media this week. From players to directors, many people are expected to leave the club this summer, and manager Mauricio Pochettino, formerly of Tottenham, is one of them.
So L’Equipe, over the weekend, features a piece listing 10 potential replacements for the coach at the Ligue 1 side. This is not any kind of information they have on the club’s short list, but just suggestions of who they think could be fit for the job.
One of the names in that piece is the one of Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte, who’s seen as an attainable target for PSG.
L’Equipe takes Conte’s time at Spurs as good, highlighting his ‘rather positive results’ following nine wins in 16 league games. Still, they point out that his ‘group management and communication doesn’t really sit well’ with the club’s board.
That’s why Conte ‘could quickly leave’ Tottenham in the summer, and the reason why he’d be a ‘a bet’ for PSG, besides his ‘experience in major competitions’, is his ‘strong personality’ to handle their locker room.
He’s managed at international level in the past and dealt with many stars at his various clubs, and therefore, handling the likes of Neymar and co. shouldn’t be too much of an issue for him.
