For a team that made it back up to the Premier League, Fulham’s squad was somewhat thin, and they’re trying to make up for it this summer.
Having already signed Maxime Le Marchand and Jean-Michael Seri from OGC Nice, as well as attempting to secure Aleksandar Mitrovic’s services from Newcastle on a full-time basis, Slavisa Jokanovic is on the lookout for a new goalkeeper.
With just Marcus Bettinelli at his disposal for the time being, the Serbian manager has been taking a look at what’s available in Spain, and Espanyol’s Roberto Jiménez has caught his eye.
The 32-year-old shot stopper spent last season on loan at Malaga, but was unable to stop the club from getting relegated, conceding 51 goals in 34 appearances.
Despite this, Roberto was one of his side’s better performers, which says a lot about the rest of his former team as a whole.
AS in Spain are the ones reporting the Fulham interest in his services, but, ideally, Espanyol would want him to stay, as they recently lost Pau Lopez to Real Betis on a free.
The interest from the Premier League side could ‘vary their plans’, however, suggesting that if the right offer were to come along for Roberto, they might be forced into selling.
The ball is in your court, Slavisa.
