The transfer of Steven Bergwijn from Tottenham Hotspur to Ajax is now ‘finalised’, according to reports from the Dutch media.
De Telegraaf writes that following a verbal agreement between technical manager Gerry Hamstra and Spurs director Fabio Paratici on Sunday evening, the move is now completely agreed.
Bergwijn is now set to have his medical on Wednesday and then sign a contract with Ajax which is set to run until 2027.
The outlet claims it was ‘difficult’ for the clubs to put on paper the verbal agreement, and it ended up being finalised following a video conversation between Ajax general manager Edwin van der Sar and Tottenham’s Daniel Levy.
De Telegraaf says Bergwijn is joining the Eredivisie giants in a deal worth €32.5m, with the Dutch side paying in four instalments.
Another big outlet confirming the deal is Voetbal International, who also claim there’s now a ‘written agreement’ for that exact same price. They point out the winger already had an agreement with Ajax, and now becomes the club’s most expensive signing ever.
Featuring for Tottenham, Bergwijn held a record of eight goals and 10 assists in 83 appearances.
