Édouard Mendy has been excellent for Chelsea since arriving from Rennes last summer and a change of managers at Stamford Bridge has not impacted his performances.

The 29-year-old replaced Kepa Arrizabalaga as the Blues’ first choice goalkeeper, and has kept 14 clean sheets and conceded 22 goals in 26 league matches.

Mendy has extended his impressive displays in the Champions League, conceding only two goals in nine matches.

Despite the Senegal international’s fine form, Thomas Tuchel’s side are being linked with other keepers, and in particular, Jan Oblak. That’s what are reporting.

It’s claimed the Slovenia international is in the sights of top European clubs due to his ‘great performances’ for Atlético Madrid.

Oblak’s contract lasts until 2023 and he could leave the La Liga side ‘to seek’ a new challenge in the summer.

This is when Thomas Tuchel’s side get a mention, along with his former club, Paris Saint-Germain, as they are the two sides believed to be interested in the custodian.

If multiple reports were to be believed, Chelsea looked at Oblak on several occasions in the past, before they signed Kepa in 2018 and Mendy last summer.

In the event Oblak confirms his exit from Atlético, state Diego Simeone’s side have identified Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez as his possible replacement.

Considering Mendy’s performances this season, it’s unlikely Tuchel and Chelsea will look at Oblak or another goalkeeper in the summer.
