Huddersfield Town’s Brahima Diarra appears to be being shopped around by his agent, with several sides in the Jupiler Pro League taking notice.
That’s according to La Capitale, relayed by Voetbal Nieuws, who say the Belgian sides are looking in the Championship and at the Huddersfield man.
They explain that several Belgian sides are looking at Diarra, whose agent appears to be shopping him around ahead of the summer.
Standard Liege are likely to be one of them, at least according to VN, whose sporting director Fergal Harkin is very focused on the English market in particular. This is an approach they believe could see them focus on Diarra, even though it’s one that’s not particualrly worked well for them in recent years.
Either way, they could be one of several sides keen on the Huddersfield man, with Portimonense, Guimares, Famalicao, RB Salzburg, West Brom, Leicester, Hull City and Bristol Rovers all thrown into the mix as well.
They’ve all been encouraged by his agent, who seems to be ‘putting him fully in the spotlight’ ahead of the summer.
It appears he wants to move on from Huddersfield, where Diarra is not a starter and has managed just 719 minutes in 23 games this season. His contract runs out at the end of the season so that is also helping to drum up interest.
Whether any of the clubs named come calling for him remains to be seen and VN do argue that it’s unlikely he’ll be joining a top Belgian side, who they say play at a level higher than the Terriers.
He and his agent need to set their sights a little lower instead and VN do seem to indicate while that the list of names being touted as suitors is long, that may not actually be the case.
In fact, their intonation is more that this is an agent drumming up interest and hoping someone, perhaps Standard and their English market loving director, takes him up on the offer.
