Feyenoord youngster Antoni Milambo needs to think carefully about a potential move to Brentford, as his agent may just be cashing in while he can.
That’s at least according to Aad de Mos, whose comments on the youngster’s potential move to Brentford have been relayed by Soccer News.
Reports in the Netherlands this week have Brentford moving quickly to do a deal for Milambo, explaining that they’ve already met his agent to discuss his personal terms. The belief is that a firm offer would be made to Feyenoord at some point soon too.
It is a deal which has almost come out of nowhere, something that Brentford have become specialists at in recent years.
De Mos isn’t entirely convinced about it, though, and believes there may be an agent looking to cash in while he can.
“If you can take the grand prize for such a boy, you should just do that,” he is quoted as saying in episode 121 of the Twee Viertje with Aad podcast.
“That will be based on the two goals he scored with Benfica. There are always clubs that are sensitive to that. It’s also a bit like his agent, whether he wants to cash in quickly for such a young player.”
Milambo has enjoyed a rapid rise at Feyenoord in recent years after making his debut aged just 6 years and 131 days under Arne Slot. Since then, he’s managed 53 games, with eight goals and eight assists to his name.
And De Mos believes he may be better served staying where he is, particularly with Feyenoord going well under Robin van Persie.
“The opportunities at Feyenoord under Van Persie also play a role, in terms of development,” he added.
“I read that it’s a middleman, which is interested. If I were Milambo, I would stay at Feyenoord for 2-3 years. Develop until you have played 150 games and then look further.”
