Real Madrid’s sudden acceleration to sign Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth is because they will be giving him to Spain almost immediately after a deal is completed.

That’s according to Antón Meana in El Larguero, relayed by Defensa Central, who reports that Real Madrid want to present the Bournemouth star before Spain take on France in the Nation’s League at the beginning of June.

Real Madrid appear to be pushing to sign Huijsen from Bournemouth as soon as possible, with reports making it clear that they will pay his release clause this summer.

The defender has been named as the number one target for the Spanish giants as they look to bolster their defence for incoming new manager Xabi Alonso next season.

They’ve been linked with Huijsen for months, alongside all the big clubs in Europe, with his performances for Bournemouth turning him into the man everyone wants to sign for their defence this summer.

The past week has seen a real acceleration from the Spanish side, though, with little explanation of why that is the case. Meana, though, suggests it may have something to do with Spain.

“The goal is for him to play in the Club World Cup, but for his presentation to take place before the Nations League so he can travel with Spain if De la Fuente calls him up,” he said.

In other words, Madrid want the deal done now in the knowledge that they will have to loan their new signing to Spain almost immediately after he arrives.

It is that which appears to be fuelling their push this week, perhaps in the hope of adding some positive news to the cycle given Ancelotti’s departure, defeat in El Clasico and a season which is now being presented as a disaster.
