Liverpool drawing Real Madrid in the quarterfinals of the Champions League meant the match would certainly be hyped up in the Spanish media in the weeks leading up to the tie.

That started immediately, with the first concentration being on Mohamed Salah and Sergio Ramos meeting again.

Saturday sees articles across the Spanish sport media, and AS go with the slant of how poor Liverpool have been this season compared to their exploits of the previous two campaigns.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are described as ‘such a vulnerable team’ and the Spanish audience is told the Reds have shown a ‘surprising weakness’ so far this season.

The problems at the back are well known, and AS go on further to say Klopp’s midfield has also been hit. Players have been pulled back into central defence, spreading the injury issues further, and Thiago Alcantara, signed from Bayern Munich in the summer, hasn’t managed to perfect fit in yet.

AS explain it was always going to be ‘complex’ for Thiago to adapt to the style of play at Anfield, given he plays a slower game when compared to the style shown by Klopp.

There’s going to be a lot more of this, especially the Thiago claims, from the Spanish media as the matches get closer.
