Last week Harry Kane was one of a number of players to feature at a Nike commercial event, and as part of that Gazzetta dello Sport got an interview with the player. They published half of it last week but have saved the other half for their Extra Time supplement.
In it Kane is asked the usual questions about going for the Premier League title, and having to beat Italian managers to achieve his aim. Tottenham missed out to Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City last season and this time around Harry Kane and his teammates face Antonio Conte’s challenge at Chelsea.
Kane was diplomatic, sending rightful praise the way of the pair whilst underlining Tottenham’s ambitions. Then it was put to the England international that the transfer window isn’t closed, and he’s received interest from China.
Kane was in mood to dodge the subject and made his feelings about a possible Tottenham exit very clear: “I would be surprised if any of my teammate were to leave now. Something’s going on here, we’re just missing the last step: to win trophies. It would be stupid to leave now. We have one of the best technicians in the world, perhaps the best. Soon there will be a new stadium. The future is promising.”
On the money on offer in China, Kane said: “One has to choose whether to take the money, or follow their own ambitions, playing in the best tournament in the world and winning titles.”
If there was any need to, Kane has made his opinion on a Tottenham exit very clear. The striker feels it would be ‘stupid’, and applies that to his teammates too.
