On March 17th, UOL reported Liverpool and Barcelona have already made contact to sign Wesley França in the summer window. It was also stated Flamengo are aiming to collect around €30-35m for him.

Liverpool’s interest in the right-back is now backed up by multiple claims from Brazil.

Journalist Bruno Lemos took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report that the 21-year-old is being ‘coveted’ by Liverpool.

His representatives have travelled to the UK and shared a photo on their social media profiles, which Lemos has included in his post. He adds Manchester United are also in the mix.

RTI Esporte are also reporting the defender’s agents are in England, where they will have meetings with Premier League clubs. The Reds and Manchester City are mentioned as the Brazil international’s suitors.

Wesley’s agents are looking to open negotiations with interested parties, get to know their projects and look at their training facilities. Liverpool, as per the report, are ‘one of the strongest names in the race’ to sign the fullback.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been the first choice right-back since his breakthrough. His contract expires in June and he’s likely to leave Anfield as a free agent.

RTI Esporte say Wesley’s style of play is similar to that of Alexander-Arnold and could take his place at Liverpool next season. The Citizens also have the South American in their list.

Flamengo sporting director José Boto had earlier admitted it won’t be easy to retain him beyond the upcoming window.

“But this [sale] will only happen if the clubs are willing to pay what we think Wesley is worth,” he said.

The Brazilian club, for their part, are clear that Wesley won’t be sold until the Club World Cup.
