Donnarumma Tuttosport September 18th‘Fenomeno’ Gianluigi Donnarumma doesn’t turn 18 years of age until February 25th next year, but he’s AC Milan’s first choice goalkeeper and has been for a while.

The club plan to count on the youngster for the foreseeable future and are set to give him a new contract, to try and secure him from other clubs.

Tuttosport say the plan is for Donnarumma to sign a new contract on his 18th birthday, but there’s some worry his agent Mino Raiola could up the stakes. Manchester United are said to be interested and Raiola’s ‘strong relationship’ with Edward Woodward and the club is pointed out as an issue.

It just doesn’t seem to add up. Manchester United are very happy with David De Gea and have Argentine international Sergio Romero as their second choice. They have no need for Donnarumma and in the unlikely case De Gea leaves soon, they’d probably want someone more experienced.

It doesn’t make huge sense for the player either. He’s settled at Milan and has his whole career ahead of him. Most young goalkeepers don’t breakthrough until their twenties so Donnarumma has a huge amount of time.
