Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan is facing an uncertain future at Chinese side Shanghai SIPG, after the arrival of Hulk.
The former Sunderland star’s consistent injury problems forced Shanghai SIPG to bring in a striker this summer, and it is reported they now want to offload Gyan.
More than a month ago, Caught Offside had an exclusive claiming Chelsea are interested in signing the 30-year-old.
It appears Gyan has responded to these rumours, in an interview to Hot FM (via Ghana Soccernet).
“I deal with paper work. I have not received any offer from Chelsea I think they are all rumours but I have received a lot of offers from different clubs,” he told Hot FM.
“And I will take a decision when the right time comes. I am still observing things.”
It is reported Gyan is currently earning €271,000 per week, and is the world’s six highest-paid player.
The interest from Chelsea absolutely makes no sense at all, and there is no way they’re going to match his high wages even if they were interested.
Gyan has another year left on his contract at the Chinese club, and reportedly there is also an option to extend it for another year.
