Earlier this week, we covered a story in Corriere dello Sport mentioning both West Ham and Newcastle attempting to sign Welsey Moraes from Club Brugge.

The story came about because Lazio were, and still are interested in the Brazilian striker, and while it was hinted the Hammers and the Magpies could be getting ahead, that isn’t the case any longer.

Corriere dello Sport explain on Thursday that despite the ‘advances’ from West Ham and Newcastle, the player is favouring a move to Lazio, and has done for a while now.

The main issue for the Italians will be the price the Belgian club will want for their star forward, with the Serie A side hoping for a base price of €16-18m with an end deal similar to the one they pulled off last year for Joaquin Correa last year.

The belief is that Brugge could end up asking for a €20-22m total for the 22-year-old, a fee clubs like West Ham and Newcastle would have no problem shelling out up front if there was any indication Wesley wanted to join them.

For now, that isn’t the case, as Lazio are hoping to use the Brazilian’s desire of teaming up with Ciro Immobile in Rome to their advantage.

If true, then all Rafa Benitez and Manuel Pellegrini can hope for is Club Brugge being stubborn and hoping for more money.
