KAA Gent striker Roman Yaremchuk is ‘on the list’ at Arsenal as the player eyes a move this summer.
That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who say the Belgian club want at least €20m if they are to sanction a transfer away from the club.
HLN explain that Yaremchuk, who has 15 goals and five assists in 27 games in the Jupiler Pro League this season, was keen on a move away last summer.
Gent held him off, though, instead coming to an agreement with the player and his advisors that they would let him go if they found a club ‘willing to pay what Gent are aiming for’.
At the time, that was €15m, but according to HLN’s sources, they have no increased that to ‘more than €20m’, especially after turning down a bid of more than €10m from Sporting CP.
The Belgian side are in a ‘strong position’ to demand what they want, having tied Yaremchuk to a deal until 2025.
The onus, then, is on Yaremchuk to prove to his suitors, such as Arsenal, that he is worth the outlay, and that is something he is more than aware of.
With six games left of the season, he will want to make his mark, particularly as he is keen to sort out a transfer before the European Championships, where he will be Andriy Shevchenko’s first-choice forward for Ukraine.
So far, there has been ‘nothing concrete’ in terms of a move but a strong end to the season, which Yaremchuk has ‘every interest’ in having, could tempt Arsenal and the other parties to make their move.
