Just over a week ago, we covered a story from Diario Gol in Spain trying to rekindle the Karim Benzema to Arsenal transfer merry-go-round.
The bottom line of the article was that Real Madrid saw this as the French striker’s last season at the Bernabeu, and leaving for the Emirates would be a nice way for him to exit the club.
Well, Arsenal seem to be in the past now, as a new destination has been picked for Benzema, and that’s Tottenham.
The very same outlet claim on Thursday that Real Madrid considered using the forward in a deal (with money, of course) to convince Spurs to sell them Harry Kane.
Now, before you laugh too much and go ‘this is never going to happen’, Diario Gol cover that too by explaining the former Lyon starlet has already said no to this ever happening.
Why? Because he doesn’t see Tottenham as a club suited for his level of football, one that doesn’t fight to be in the Champions League every year.
Yes, that’s him apparently saying no to the team that literally beat his side in the competition they don’t fight to be in just under a month ago.
And if that wasn’t enough, the Spanish outlet explain that once Benzema finds out he isn’t as wanted as he once was in Madrid anymore (because telling him he was to be used in a transfer for Kane apparently didn’t register with him), he might change his mind and see Spurs as a viable option.
Look, we’re not saying Diario Gol are becoming the new Don Balon, but…
