It seems that Portuguese midfielder João Teixeira should be on his way back to Portugal after spending one season in the Championship.

The 23-year-old was first loaned from Benfica to Wolves, and after another move in the January market he ended up spending the rest of the season at Nottingham Forest.

Portuguese newspaper Record has a story today saying he’s now joining Vitória Setúbal. The Liga NOS side had already tried to sign him in the winter window, but the player went from Wolves to Nottingham Forest instead.

The outlet claims there are only a few details left before Benfica and Setúbal can finalise the deal.

Teixeira made only 20 appearances this season, all of them for Wolves. Despite his five months at Forest, he only made it to the bench once and never had a chance to play.

It seems he’s just one of the many Benfica loans to other leagues that hasn’t worked out well.
