A couple of days ago we covered a report from Italy which explained the effort Harry Winks has been putting in to get fully fit.

Moving from Tottenham Hotspur to Sampdoria on loan during the summer window, the midfielder hasn’t yet made an appearance for the Genoa club. During the international break, he attended the training ground daily and was often the only player there, as he tried everything to be ready for when domestic matches started again.

Unfortunately, that effort doesn’t appear to have fully paid off.

SampNews24 report Winks ‘stops again’ and hasn’t been able to train normally with the Serie A club’s squad. Having taken part in one group session, he’s back doing individual work and there’s no indication of when he’ll be able to represent his new club.

It’s a concern for all parties involved, but especially for the 26-year-old himself. Tottenham have Winks on a contract which lasts until June 2024, with Sampdoria having an option to buy at the end of their loan deal.

With a future at Spurs unlikely, the Premier League club will want him playing regularly so that his value doesn’t decrease further.
