Catalan newspaper Sport mention Stoke City on two consecutive pages in their Thursday edition.
First up is Quique Sánchez Flores whose future at Espanyol remains uncertain after the manager turned down a move to Stoke City.
Flores is said to be frustrated with Espanyol’s limitations in the market, and whilst he’s happy in Barcelona a summer move is a very real possibility.
Stoke City appointed Paul Lambert instead but if that turns into a disaster, which isn’t yet the case, then Sanchez would be more prepared to move in the summer.
Secondly, Sport believe Marc Muniesa’s loan to Girona has a clause which means the Spanish club have to sign him on a permanent deal in the summer.
Girona have an ‘obligation’ to make the loan a full transfer, but there’s no mention of how much they’ll be paying Stoke for the player.
Muniesa joined Stoke City in 2013 from Barcelona and had a contract until June 2019 with the Premier League club. Although a permanent clause wasn’t disclosed at the time of the loan, Muniesa’s goodbye message did seem pretty final.
