FC Porto defender, and Stoke City target, Bruno Martins Indi failed to show up for the team’s 2017/18 season presentation at the Estádio do Dragão on Sunday.
As reported by local newspaper O Jogo, the defender was sick due to a virus and wasn’t able to play in the friendly match against Deportivo La Coruña, so was sent home instead.
Martins Indi’s situation at the club remains pretty unclear. He’s not expected to be a regular starter next season, and with English clubs interested in bringing him back to the Premier League, he’s obviously a good chance for Porto to make a few million without losing an important player.
But despite reports of negotiations with Stoke City and even claims of a medical at Crystal Palace, there’s still nothing done on the defender’s departure.
O Jogo doesn’t give any updates on his transfer situation today, which means the English sides are still struggling to match Porto’s demands.
This seems to be a genuine virus and not a ‘travelling to Stoke City for a medical’ type of virus.
