Maybe one ridiculously tall striker isn’t enough for Stoke City. Peter Crouch may have some heavy competition for his position next season, as the club are now reportedly interested in Sporting star Bas Dost.
As reported by Correio da Manhã this week, the Potters have been keeping an eye on the striker and would be keen on bringing him to the Premier League next season.
Bas Dost had already been linked to Stoke City back in 2013, during his first season at Wolfsburg. He was said to be available for only €3.5m at the time.
But the striker remained in Germany until the last summer window, when he signed for Sporting for €10m. Since then he’s scored 34 goals for the Portuguese side.
Now protected by a €60m release clause, there’s no way Sporting will sell him for a low amount.
According to the newspaper, the club have the striker in their plans for the next season and he’s only leaving for the full price.
Surely Stoke City wouldn’t go near that figure.
