Bild have photographic evidence that Kevin Wimmer had a medical with Hannover 96 on Thursday. The German newspaper picture the defender walking into a clinic in Hannover yesterday.
It seems everything went well because a transfer is considered as done. Wimmer will initially move on a loan deal, but the Bundesliga club have a buying clause for next summer.
The amount is put at €12m, but Hannover don’t have to use this and will only considering going close to that amount if Wimmer has the season of his life.
In that respect, the clause isn’t much use to Stoke as the only beneficiaries are Hannover, as they know that, whatever happens, the price wouldn’t be more than €12m at the end of next season.
Even at €12m it represents a big loss for Stoke City. Bild’s figure today on what the club paid Tottenham is €20m, and from day one the Austrian footballer seemed overpriced.
Wimmer has now left Hannover to meet up with the Austria national team.
