Former Galatasaray midfielder Badou Ndiaye has spoken to Turkish newspaper Aksam about his time at Galatasaray and why he decided to join Stoke City.

The Senegal international left the Turkish club in the last transfer window and signed for Stoke City for a reported £16m.

Speaking to Aksam, Ndiaye was asked about his recent move from Galatasaray to Stoke City: “I can understand why the Galatasaray fans haven’t taken it well after I left the club.”

“I had lots of trouble financially during my stay at Galatasaray. The fans didn’t know that. I think my sale was a good deal for the club and myself. I hope both Galatasaray and Stoke City have good seasons. Galatasaray will stay a part of my life forever.”

Ndiaye spent just six months with Galatasaray after signing for the club last summer for €7.5m.

However, it’s always been the dream of the midfielder to play in the Premier League, and subsequently when Stoke City started to show interest last month he was tempted with the move to England.

Ndiaye made his debut for Stoke City at the start of this month in the 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth, but did provide an assist for his new team.

The 27 year also started the recent game against Brighton.
