Stoke City’s aim to sign Nani has died already. La Liga club Valencia have confirmed the player is set to arrive at the Mestalla after Euro 2016, and of course a small break for a vacation.

The Valencia regional media had earlier become irritated with Stoke City for ‘interfering’ in the potential transfer and ‘complicating’ things for Valencia.

Perhaps Stoke confirming their interest public led to a slightly higher transfer fee or better personal terms for the former Manchester United player.

Nani will be hoping to delay his arrival at Valencia by a further few days. Portugal play Wales on Wednesday evening in a Euro 2016 semi-final and victory sees them through to the showpiece final in Paris.

Super Deporte say Valencia are paying €8.5m to Fenerbahce for the player.
