A week ago, we reported claims in media of interest from Chelsea and Manchester United in Genk’s Leon Bailey.
The 19-year-old is highly rated in Belgium, and a move to a bigger European club is believed to be around the corner. However, according to a latest report, another English club have shown interest in signing the Jamaican forward.
Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur claims Stoke City have already contacted Genk over the possibility of signing Bailey. The Belgian side have already informed the Premier League club they want at least £17m (€20m) for his services, which fits in with previous claims in Belgium.
Stoke City, however, face competition from Napoli, Nice, and Bayer Leverkusen, with those clubs in contact with Bailey’s representatives.
With 8 goals and 8 assists to his name already this season, Bailey’s performances have caught the eye of several top European clubs, and it certainly wouldn’t be easy for Stoke City to convince him.
As we explained last week, it seems that Genk are happy to get it out there that they’ll sell Bailey for a fee of over €20m.
