There’s a chance Valencia could come to their senses and ditch the idea of signing Simone Zaza in January. Their alternative is Stoke City’s Bojan.
Valencia interest in Bojan has been reported sporadically, as the Spanish club look for value additions to help them escape an impending relegation battle. Having spent far too much transfer money on poorly selected signings, Valencia are now looking around the bargain basement, and that’s led them to Stoke.
As it stands, Valencia sport newspaper Super Deporte say that Bojan is an ‘alternative’ to Zaza, and that a move for the former Barcelona player would depend on several factors.
From the English perspective, Stoke City are said to be ‘already aware’ that Valencia are considering making a move for the forward next month.
At times it seems Valencia aren’t even sure what they want from the transfer window, which given past signings is no surprise. Bojan is heralded because he can play between the attack and midfield, whereas previous potential additions, who the Stoke player is an alternative to, have been pushed forward because they’re out and out strikers.
Valencia just want someone to make everything better, and it could be a reasonable chance for Bojan… but not without its risk.
Regardless of what Valencia decide to do, Stoke will surely be reluctant to let the player leave without a replacement coming in.
