On Monday, journalist Arilas Ould-Saada reported Lille have stepped in to hijack Cardiff City’s deal to sign Vålerenga Fotball’s Andrej Ilić in the winter market.
He also stated the Ligue 1 side are offering €3.75m and ‘more guarantees’ than what has been proposed by the Bluebirds.
Cardiff City have received a massive boost as TV2 state the Norwegian club have turned down Lille’s offer of around €3.75m in fixed fee plus NOK 8m [€750,000] in bonuses.
It’s explained that the French club weren’t offering to include a sell-on clause and this clearly didn’t please Vålerenga.
This should certainly come as encouragement for Cardiff City, who, as per the report, ‘lead the way in the battle to buy’ the Serbian.
TV2 journalist Arilas Ould-Saada has provided additional information on X, formerly known as Twitter. He claims Cardiff City are ‘still leading the race’ but Vålerenga haven’t accepted any offer for Ilić so far.
🚨 Vålerenga have rejected Lille's offer (€3,75M + €750.000 in bonuses) as the French club doesn't want to include a sell-on clause in the deal. That means Cardiff City are still leading the race for the Serbian striker, although no offer has been accepted by Vålerenga yet. https://t.co/oXcQS5okpR pic.twitter.com/sl7Bx2NFya
