On March 4th, we covered claims made by Jeunes Footeux that Aston Villa are ‘not letting go’ of Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara.
It was also stated Steven Gerrard has made the midfielder his ‘priority’ target for the next window and the Premier League side have already made a ‘big contract’ offer to him.
Kamara’s contract with the Ligue 1 side will expire on June 30th. Aston Villa and other clubs stand a chance to take him on a free in the summer.
Gerrard seems to have taken a keen interest in the 22-year-old as the former Liverpool star made a trip to France to watch the player in action during Marseille’s 3-2 win over FC Nantes at the Stade Vélodrome.
That’s according to RMC Sport, who explain the Aston Villa manager ‘came to observe’ Kamara in action on Wednesday. He played the full 90 minutes against Nantes.
L’Equipe rated his performance as 5/10, pretty average for those who played.
If Gerrard’s interest in the Frenchman were to materialise in a signing, the latter would reunite with his former Marseille teammate, Morgan Sanson, at Villa Park.
Kamara has a goal and an assist to his name from 41 appearances in all competitions this season for Marseille.
