“Get ready for the Liverpool match”

This is what Everton sporting director Steve Walsh has reportedly told Cenk Tosun, say Haberturk.

With the Turkish striker’s transfer to Everton close to completion, HaberTurk claim Everton’s Steve Walsh has phoned Tosun to make clear what the Premier League club expects from him: ‘We like you as a footballer and we have been following you for some time. You are a good player and we want you in our team. We have a game against Liverpool on 5th of January.

‘We want to use you in that game, so get yourself ready. If Sam Allardyce wants to use you, you need to be ready.’

This will be the Turkish newspaper paraphrasing Walsh, it’s a common thing in the country.

Earlier today we covered reports from Turkey that Tosun’s move to Everton is close, and that the Toffees are prepared to pay £28m to bring him to Goodison Park.

If they can get a deal done before the Liverpool game, this will come as boost to Everton manager Sam Allardyce.

Everton struggled in attack against Manchester United yesterday, and the Turkey international could give them another option in the clash with Liverpool.

Tosun is currently in London on holiday, and the player is expected to travel to Merseyside once the two clubs reached an agreement. He’d previously been set to holiday in Dubai, but London is of course closer to Liverpool.

Tosun’s agent, who is also his father, is reportedly in Liverpool trying to close the deal.
