When Leicester City won the Premier League there was so much praise thrown around that it obviously had to be shared.
One of the men to get a big chunk was Steve Walsh, who had been working as a scout for Leicester. ‘Scout’ may not entirely cover it, Walsh had become something of a Leicester City transfer guru and it brought wider attention.
Last summer he joined Everton and took up a director of football role, but was perhaps a little late to have a big impact at Goodison Park that window.
This summer will be different, although there’s been no buys so far which have been way under the radar.
Everton have now added to their scouting contingent by taking another man from Leicester, Scandinavia scout Ole Nielsen.
Danish newspaper BT quote Nielsen as saying: “I will be an international scout at Everton with Scandinavia as the focus area.”
It would be assumed that Nielsen and Walsh know each other from their Leicester City days, but there’s every chance Everton are still stung from getting to Thomas Delaney too late, and want another pair of eyes in Scandinavia.
