Fulham and Bayern Munich remain a few steps apart from each other over Joao Palhinha, despite him making it clear he wants the move to Munich.

That’s according to BILD, who say Bayern are ‘working hard’ to get the Portuguese midfielder, who is considered the ‘dream’ signing by Vincent Kompany and Bayern’s hierarchy.

The newspaper reports that following an initial €35m offer, which was rejected, Bayern made a second offer to Fulham worth €45m on Tuesday.

That, though, is still not enough for Marco Silva’s side, who are believed to be demanding more than €70m for the midfielder. Their reasoning is that they agreed a €58m plus €9m deal with Bayern last summer and don’t want anything less than that this time around.

Bayern are yet to go that high, despite considering Palhinha a dream player for the squad and keeping in contact with him for the last year after last summer’s failed move.

They’ve already discussed a possible contract worth €10m a year with the midfielder, even though they are yet to agree transfer terms with Fulham for him.

They’re proving to be tough negotiators once again, even though Palhinha has made it clear he wants the move and only wants to join the German giants this summer.
