It’s been a few weeks since we’ve heard about Leeds United’s interest in Nicolas N’Koulou, but it remains a thing.
That’s according to Torino Granata, who look at the Cameroonian defender’s situation at the Serie A club currently, looking at rumours that Real Betis could be interested if they lose Aïssa Mandi.
N’Koulou’s contract with the Italian club runs out in the summer, and following a previous collaboration with Marcelo Bielsa at Marseille, the idea of the two of them reuniting at Elland Road has crept up and refused to go away.
Torino Granata explain that following Betis’ interest in the player, it’s worth pointing out there is an ‘actual presence’ of other clubs in the race to sign the centre-back, ‘starting with Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United’.
With the Premier League side nice and safe in mid-table following last year’s promotion from the Championship, the coming summer will be one navigated with the mindset of consolidating their position in England’s elite all the while trying to improve on an already decent squad.
N’Koulou’s experience at various levels would certainly do that, and with no transfer fee to pay, it certainly makes sense.
