With just three minutes of Premier League under his belt to date, it’s fair to say that Rob Holding is the last man in the pecking order at centre-back for Arsenal.

Gabriel Magalhães and William Saliba are the starting pair under Mikel Arteta, while Ben White has been pushed to right-back, leaving little depth in the position overall.

The versatility of both the latter and Takehiro Tomiyasu can be of help in a pinch, but few would complain if an extra centre-back was signed at the Emirates.

That man, according to Il Romanista, could be Evan Ndicka; a player the Gunners have been linked with multiple times in the past.

Currently at Eintracht Frankfurt, the 23-year-old’s contract in Germany expires at the end of the season, making him an attractive target for clubs.

The first record we have of Arsenal taking a liking to Ndicka was back in February of 2021, with the stories continuing until February of 2022, when Bild claimed the Bundesliga side would be gambling on a sale this summer.

That didn’t happen, meaning he can still be bought, this time at an even cheaper price, which might have been the Gunners’ plan all along.

Either way, Il Romanista explain the player is also being followed by AS Roma, who describe just why the Serie A side would be interested, before adding that ‘the problem for the player is competition, in particular from Premier League clubs, starting with Arsenal’.

It’s also worth pointing out that both Newcastle United and West Ham United have been linked with Ndicka over the past few months.
