A week or so ago, we relayed a story from RMC Sport regarding Manchester City’s interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s young midfielder Claudio Gomes.

Having failed in their attempts to sign Dan-Axel Zagadou, now at Borussia Dortmund, Pep Guardiola’s side were said to be trying their hardest to tie up a deal for the 17-year-old, and they’ve now managed it.

According to the same media outlet, Gomes will leave Paris Saint-Germain in the summer to sign for Manchester City, having already let the Ligue 1 leaders know of his decision.

Pep Guardiola was said to have called the youngster personally to give him his plans regarding his potential future at the Etihad, and it appears to have worked.

Yet to make a professional appearance under Unai Emery, Gomes had, however, been moved up to train with the first-team recently, as well as travelling with them on a publicity event.

For Paris Saint-Germain, this is yet another talented youngster slipping through their fingers, adding to an increasing long list of what could have beens, like Kingsley Coman.
