As things stand, it seems the only thing holding back Carlos Bacca to West Ham from happening is the London club’s lack of Champions League.

At least, that’s what Gazzetta dello Sport are saying after the player made it clear he wanted to play in the elite European tournament if possible; something AC Milan cannot currently offer him after finishing seventh last season.

The two clubs seem to have agreed a €30m fee (which has been reported as €27m + €3m in bonuses) for the Colombian striker, but the player is the one holding back, waiting to see if any bigger clubs come for him before committing to Slaven Bilic and co.

Even West Ham’s offer of €4.2m/year net (£61k/week post tax) for four years is yet to prove enough to make him forget about the lack of Champions League, and an update on their website suggest he is going to say no.

Gazzetta also make things even more interesting by stating Arsenal have sent an intermediary to enquire about Bacca, while Atlético Madrid remain interested.

The offer is there from West Ham.

Now all they have to do is hope the other two clubs look elsewhere.
