On Wednesday, Diario Vasco reported Real Sociedad have accepted a €70m offer made by Newcastle United for Alexander Isak.
Mundo Deportivo’s Gipuzkoa edition has a report on the striker and his possible move to the Tyneside club.
It’s claimed the star is ‘set to become a new player of Newcastle United’. Mundo’s sources confirmed Diario Vasco’s report that the La Liga side will receive €70m through this deal.
Negotiations between the two clubs are ‘very advanced’ and with ‘no return’. Isak is waiting for the pending agreements to be finalised.
There’s belief the green light for the deal will be total when the Sweden international goes for medical tests and signs his contract with the Magpies. Real Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil is not counting on the frontman for the weekend clash against Elche.
Mundo state Isak ‘decided to go to Newcastle’ as soon as he received their proposal. He will see his salary increase by three times at St James’ Park and his desire is to embark a new adventure in the Premier League.
The newspaper explains that Eddie Howe’s side will pay the €70m fee in one shot, without any instalments. It will be the club-record sale for Real Sociedad, who would receive €5m bonuses and an additional 10 percent from Isak’s future sale.
Thursday’s AS also relays the same details related the figures of the deal.
He trained normally yesterday and didn’t inform his teammates about the potential deal. Isak is now ‘already in England’, waiting for the two clubs outline the last details of the deal to be sorted out.
Sociedad were aware of Newcastle’s interest throughout the summer, but the offer only arrived late.
The Swede’s agents kept their client informed about all the developments. He was initially against the idea of joining the Magpies, before he was convinced in the end.
With everything agreed for Isak to make a switch to Newcastle, both clubs will now close the ‘bureaucratic issues’ related to the operation.
With all three parties wanting [by choice or by force] the deal to take shape, the 22-year-old’s move to Newcastle should go through soon.
